It's almost time; the National Reading Days. And Kibeo is participating again this year. Because reading aloud is not only good for the language development of young children, but also very nice and cozy!
The National Reading Days are kicked off with a cozy Reading Breakfast on Wednesday 24 January. 'Sshh! The tiger sleeps' by Britta Teckentrup has been elected Picture Book of the Year 2018. This book is central during the National Reading Days that last until 3 February.
Visit during the Reading Days
During the National Reading Days, well-known and unknown people come to visit to read aloud. For example, the children's mayor of Goes comes to read a book at Kibeo IGJ van Den Boschstraat Wilhelminadorp. Manda Heddema, bookseller and member of the book panel of De Wereld Draait Door, will visit Kibeo Schimmelpenninckstraat in Kloetinge! And Alderman de Jong will read to the toddlers at Kibeo Molenlaan in Sommelsdijk. But grandfathers, grandmothers, aunts, parents, etc. are also very welcome to come and read.
Special in Goes: Free to a great theater performance
Especially for this occasion, all children from group 1 & 2 can go to the family performance together with their parents for free "Shhh, the tiger is sleeping" of Youth Theater School Zeeland in stage 't Beest. The importance of reading
At Kibeo we think it is important to read to the youngest children every day. It stimulates the imagination, develops the sense of language and gives children a lot of fun. Reading is always a party. And during the National Reading Days we do this not only in a special setting, but also extra often!
