Recently, we organized an inspiration day for our educational professionals in each region. Amidst the inspiration market's stalls, creative workshops, and warm encounters, an atmosphere of curiosity and enjoyment grew. Developmental psychologist Steven Pont shared with everyone how language and the relationship between child and educational professional truly help a child and their self-confidence grow.

Looking back and forward together

The day began with a welcome speech from Elly Brand, director of Kibeo. Together, we reflected on how childcare began, how the sector has developed, and where we stand today. From the first childcare groups to the professional and caring child development of today, it's remarkable to see how many wonderful steps have been taken and how many more are yet to come. This look back and forward energized us and reminded us once again of the importance of our work.

With language and attention, educational professionals build self-confidence

We then delved deeper into children's emotional and social growth with developmental psychologist Steven Pont. He demonstrated the influence adults have on this. He also emphasized the importance of language. How we look, speak, react, and set boundaries all shape the relationship we build with a child. And it's precisely this relationship that helps children feel seen and develop a positive self-image.

Pont explained that our words and attitudes significantly influence children's behavior and how safe they feel. Parents and childcare professionals each play their own role in this. By consciously using language, proximity, and clear expectations, we help children grow in confidence and independence with joy. These insights gave our colleagues new ideas to better meet your child's needs.

At the inspiration market, our professionals immersed themselves in new materials, fresh ideas, and updated programs, such as the second edition of Uk & Puk and our language program Taalrijk. There was plenty of experimentation, questions, and experiences shared. Many colleagues went home with inspiration they can immediately apply to their group, from innovative play options to ways to collaborate even better with you as a parent.

Workshops full of creativity

In addition, there were workshops like hand lettering, an introduction to face painting, and other activities that help children develop their creativity. This way, our professionals not only gained inspiration but also gained new skills to share with your child's class.
