Alderwoman Roxanne Pruijsers of the municipality of Drimmelen paid a working visit to on August 27. Kibeo De Grienden in Lage Zwaluwe. She observed the groups and spoke with staff about the development of young children, language development, equal opportunities, and the societal value of childcare.

A look into daily practice

During the tour, Alderman Pruijsers saw what a typical day at Kibeo De Grienden looks like. She observed, among other things, a mealtime, a reading activity, and a circle time. She also attended a musical moment, during which a pedagogical professional accompanied herself on the ukulele while singing children's songs.

In this way, the alderman gained an insight into how staff members stimulate children's development throughout the day. During everyday moments, for example, children learn new words, practice listening and storytelling, and develop their social skills. Play, language, music, and contact with others come together naturally in this process.

In conversation about language and equal opportunities

The alderman spoke with the branch manager, label director, and pedagogical professionals about the role childcare plays in the development of young children. Particular attention was paid to language development. The professionals explained how they guide children every day through play to expand their vocabulary, language comprehension, and communication skills. Also Rich in Language, Kibeo's own language program, was discussed. With this program, pedagogical professionals create a language-rich environment in which children talk a lot, listen, and discover new words. In this way, they build a solid foundation for primary school at an early age.

In addition, equal opportunities for every child were discussed. A safe and stimulating environment gives children the space to discover their talents, practice new skills, and develop at their own pace.

Alderwoman Roxanne Pruijsers looks back positively on the visit: “Every child deserves a good start. During this visit, I saw how staff members dedicate themselves to this every day with great commitment. By allowing children to grow in a safe and stimulating environment, we work towards equal opportunities and a strong foundation for their further development.”

Waardefull meeting

Branch Manager Lobke van Rijsewijk looks back on the visit with satisfaction: “It was valuable to show our daily practice up close and to discuss the importance of a good start for every child. Together, we can contribute to equal opportunities and a strong foundation for the future.”
