From hand lettering to making your own monogram. From March 6 to 17, 2024, Kibeo will participate in the Children's Art Week, with this year's theme 'From letter to signature, the language of art'. An initiative that normally only focuses on primary education in Zeeland. But this year, a large number of BSO branches of Kibeo are participating in the activities of the Children's Art Week. By viewing and comparing contemporary and modern art, children are inspired to get creative themselves. This gives children tools to express their feelings and thoughts in words and images.
From creativity to critical thinking, children learn a lot from art
By being involved with art at a young age, children learn a lot. In addition to developing creativity, children learn to look at things in different ways and think critically. When children are stimulated by art, they are challenged to wonder what exactly that stimulus is. This gives them space to ask questions themselves and find answers. This is how children make the world around them their own. In addition, art gives children the opportunity to express their feelings and thoughts. By talking about it or expressing it in images, for example. This stimulates social-emotional development.
Participants work with a digital classroom with art assignments that fit the theme
Participants of the Children's Art Week work with a digital classroom. This is a database with ideas for activities. The pedagogical professionals of Kibeo gain inspiration here and also work with their own program in the activity database 'DoenKids'. These are children's art assignments that fit the theme, such as hand lettering, printing letters and making your own monogram.
After a successful pilot, all BSO branches of Kibeo are participating in the Children's Art Week
Last year, Kibeo ran a successful pilot in which ten Zeeland BSO branches of Kibeo participated in the Children's Art Week. That is why Kibeo has decided this year to participate with all Wereldmakers and several BSO branches, including the branches outside Zeeland.
The Children's Art Week Foundation has been organizing the Children's Art Week in Zeeland for 12 years
Al 12 jaar organiseert Stichting Kinderkunstweek (KKW) de Kinderkunstweek in samenwerking met diverse culturele instellingen en aanbieders. Deelnemers kunnen het hele jaar door gebruik maken van het ideeënboek, digitaal klaslokaal en het activiteitenaanbod van verschillende kunstaanbieders. Hiermee neemt Stichting KKW leerkrachten en pedagogisch professionals veel werk uit handen. Dankzij het kant en klare materiaal waar scholen en BSO’s mee kunnen werken, is er weinig voorbereidingstijd nodig. Dit maakt hen nog enthousiaster om samen met de kinderen aan de slag te gaan met kunstactiviteiten.
