From crafting your own swimming pool to painting waves in a raging sea. From 15 to 23 March, 10 BSOs from Kibeo will participate in the Children's Art Week, with this year's theme 'From drop to tsunami, water in art'. A Zeeland initiative that normally only focuses on primary education, but this year there is also a special program for children in after-school care. By viewing and comparing contemporary and modern art, children are inspired to get creative themselves.
From creativity to critical thinking, children learn a lot from art
By being involved with art at a young age, children learn a lot. For example, in addition to developing creativity, children learn to look at things in different ways and to think critically. When children become stimulated by art, they are challenged to ask themselves what exactly that stimulus is. This gives them space to ask questions themselves and find answers to them. This is how children make the world around them their own.
During the Children's Art Week, children learn in a playful way about this year's theme: water. Like art, life without water is almost unthinkable. Why is water important and what would happen to us without water? And of course water also has dangers. The various art assignments provide children with answers to these kinds of questions in a playful way.
Participants of the Children's Art Week work with a digital classroom. A digital classroom is an online environment with children's art assignments that match the theme, such as crafting your own swimming pool, painting a wild sea and looking at water in art.
10 Zeeland branches participate in the Children's Art Week
This Children's Art Week, 10 Zeeuwse BSOs from Kibeo are participating. At 5 of these locations, the children will continue to make structural use of the art assignments from the 'digital classroom' in the coming year. With this they offer the children at the BSO varied and innovative activities. Kibeo also works more than usual with the primary school during the Children's Art Week. This ensures an even better continuous learning line for the children.

The Children's Art Week Foundation has been organizing the Children's Art Week in Zeeland for 12 years
The Children's Art Week Foundation (KKW) has been organizing the Children's Art Week for 12 years in collaboration with various cultural institutions and providers. Throughout the year, participants can use the idea book, digital classroom and the range of activities offered by various art providers. Thanks to the ready-made material that schools and after-school care can work with, The KKW Foundation relieves teachers and pedagogical staff of a lot of work.
