On Monday 26 September, the BSO with Zorg Zierikzee officially opened its doors in a festive manner. Since the start of this school year, Kibeo and Juvent have been offering fun, group-oriented activities to children with care needs thanks to an intensive collaboration.
Out-of-school care for children with additional care needs
Out-of-school care (BSO) for children with additional care needs was previously referred to as BSO+. However, BSO with Care goes a step further and is an intensive collaboration between Kibeo and Juvent. At the BSO with Care, children with a treatment plan and children with a supervision plan are taken care of together in one group. Specialized staff ensure that children play with friends in a fun, structured and meaningful way while increasing their social-emotional skills through targeted activities. The support needs of the child are central and the guidance is adjusted accordingly.
subsidy from the municipality
The municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland believes that every child should be able to make use of out-of-school care, appropriate to the needs of the child. That is why the municipality contributes to the care costs for BSO with Care with a subsidy. There are two forms of this. For the children with a treatment plan, the municipality pays all costs for childcare for a year. A new arrangement has been drawn up for children with a supervision plan whose parents are not entitled to childcare allowance. For these parents, the municipality also contributes to the costs, so that parents pay a contribution based on their income. In this way, after-school care for children with additional care needs remains affordable for all parents.
This form of subsidy for BSO is unique and the result of a long process between the municipality, Kibeo and Juvent.
Official opening on Monday 26 September
The BSO with Care has been open since the start of the school year on 5 September. The official opening took place on Monday 26 September. A festive afternoon was planned for the children, parents, employees and guests. Alderman Paula Schot was present on behalf of the municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland to officially open the BSO.
