The congress took place on Wednesday, September 28 Science meets Practice instead of it Center of Expertise Childcare. During the congress, professionals and researchers from childcare came together to exchange knowledge about the profession.
After the plenary part, where three leading scientists presented their (not yet published) results, science met practice in the sub-sessions, with different themes such as risky play, mutual interactions, collaboration with parents and Pedagogical Practice in Picture (PiB).
At Kibeo, we have been working for several years with the Pedagogische Praktijk in Beeld self-evaluation tool, which was devised and developed by educationalist Simon Hay. We have been in close contact with the developer about a proper implementation of the instrument at Kibeo.
The Expertise Center for Childcare has therefore asked us to share our practical experience with the use of PiB. Our colleagues Kitty Kooiman (pedagogical coach) and Danina Kooijman (pedagogical policy officer) talked about how we implemented PiB within Kibeo, how we use PiB and what possibilities and insights PiB gives us.
Simon Hay: “When I look at the idea we had with PiB and what I now hear and see how Kitty does that as a coach, I am very proud! I think that many organizations can learn from Kibeo how to implement and safeguard in phases.”
