Children want to discover the world. Learn to walk, learn to cycle, go outside and see what's happening on the street. To teach children norms, values and habits in traffic, Kibeo has joined the JONGlearning in traffic project.
Project JUGGING in traffic
The JONGlearning in traffic project is about behavior in traffic and the traffic education of toddlers and preschoolers. Within this project, a program has been set up to offer children an appropriate and educational program to introduce them to traffic. For example, various traffic situations are simulated on the square, where children can safely become acquainted with traffic through role play. During this role play there are not only road users, the children can also dress up as a police officer to see whether all road users are complying with the rules. The children also learn about traffic by reading books, singing songs, making crafts and playing with various theme-oriented play materials such as a real working traffic light. The program supports teachers, pedagogical staff and educators in traffic education. The program fits in seamlessly with the development areas of the Early Childhood Education Program (VVE) within Kibeo.
Participating Kibeo branches
From Kibeo, two branches in Zeeland are participating in the project. These are Kibeo Bergweg in Goes and Kibeo Raamstraat in Zierikzee. In addition to the two participating branches in Zeeland, all Kibeo branches in the municipality of Moerdijk and Steenbergen are also participating in this project. At these locations, the children become acquainted with traffic in a fun, challenging and educational way. There are also many primary schools that have joined this project. This broad involvement contributes positively to the continuous learning line from preschool to primary education.
Parent meeting
Parents and carers play an important role in early childhood traffic education. That is why a parent meeting is organized within this project. During this meeting, attention will be paid to the different developmental phases of children, the way in which children experience traffic situations, the limitations of young children in traffic, the safe transport of children and the influence of their own exemplary behaviour.
