IKC Don Bosco was officially opened on Friday 22 October. From now on, Kibeo Deken Tomaslaan and De Don Boscoschool in 's-Heerenhoek together form an Integral Child Center (IKC) and will continue together under the name IKC Don Bosco.

Kibeo Deken Tomaslaan and De Don Boscoschool have been working closely together for quite some time and have been preparing for a long time to become an Integral Child Center (IKC) together. Both are therefore pleased that the collaboration has been officially signed.

Children, together with friends, always have something to see, discover or do at IKC Don Bosco. At the IKC, children are given every opportunity to develop their own initiatives and make decisions, while also learning to take friends and the environment into account. Children also learn to take responsibility and set boundaries. This promotes the self-reliance of children.

What is an Integral Child Center?

IKC Don Bosco is a facility for children from 0 to 12 years old, where they learn, play, develop and meet under one roof. This is convenient for parents and familiar for the child. Within the IKC, the entire team works from one vision. For the children, this means that there is a smooth transition between childcare and education, that there is a wide range on offer and that employees know each other and make mutual agreements. The development of the children is followed in a continuous line at an IKC, in this way we know what the children's talents are and where children may deserve extra attention. Collaboration with the parents is paramount within an IKC.

Opening Children's Stray Book Station

In addition to the official opening of the IKC, the KinderzwerfboekStation was also opened. Children can go here for a stray book, so that as many children as possible are encouraged to read books at home.

What are stray books?

Children's stray books are books with a stray sticker that wander from child to child. Stray books are passed on, left behind in schools, waiting rooms, shops, trains and Children's Stray Book Stations. However a book may roam, it should never be left read or unread in a bookcase. In recent years, a million stray books have already been sent on an exciting journey.
